The Season.
Spring is looking terrific across the region. Rain earlier, followed by warmer weather has given our pasture a real Irish tinge. Some slightly longer, drier, and windier days are giving a hint of what may be ahead. A good drink in the next two weeks would make for a fantastic Spring/Summer season.
We are down to the last very few calves to weigh. The trend has remained strong with good results across all mobs.
Progress
We are now starting to focus on our joinings for this year. The selection process will be extremely difficult given the attractive options we have available.
The selection for the AI Program will be backed up by our new cover Bull purchased at the Marble High Wagyu Sale in August. We have named him, “Wallet” given the amount of money we spent. His BFI (Breeder Feeder Index) is a whooping $764 compared to a breed average of $303. His Marble Score WBV is 4.1 compared to the breed average of 1.8. This is all backed up by a Birth Weight WBV of -0.2 and a Carcase Weight WBV of 47kg compared to the breed average of 23kg.
A very long day was spent getting good photographs and videos of the Bulls for Sale. Who knew that bulls are so reluctant to pose for their fashion photographs. Many thanks to Emily from Branded Ag for pushing through with the photo session. These photographs can be viewed by clicking the tile below and in addition we are updating the website with new Bulls. koolangwagyu.com.au/bulls-for-sale
Markets
The market remains strong. The Wagyu premium is somewhat subdued. Volitility in cattle prices remains limited as global demand continues to provide a strong foundation for all red meat protein.
